No the recipe is not a family secret! And it is so good! Honestly, we have pancakes for dinner probably once a week! The recipe is:
1 cube butter 1 c. sugar 2 tbs. karo syrup 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 t. baking soda 1 T. vanilla
Melt the butter. Add sugar, karo syrup and buttermilk. Cook, stirring constantly, until it boils. Turn down to a rolling boil for 2 minutes (stirring constantly). Take off heat, add baking soda and vanilla and stir. The longer you cook at a rolling boil, the thicker it will be so make sure not to cook it too long. Or it will end up like caramel for caramel apples! Feeds 4-5 people. I usually double it and put the rest in the fridge so Jonathan can put it on his toast and stuff.
Enjoy! It is so good! I recall that you liked it! 8 pieces or something!? :) Still a record at my parent's house, I think.

Avery is adorable. Happy 1/2 birthday!
By the way, you melt the butter in the pot. Maybe that was self-explanatory. :) But just wanted to make sure.
